Rush of interest in youth volunteering funding
The youth volunteering charity v has received nearly 800 expressions of interest from organisations that want to apply for shares of the £70m funding available through its new National Youth Volunteering Programme.
Over three years, v aims to create specialist teams in every local authority in England to encourage the direct delivery of volunteering opportunities for young people aged between 16 and 25.
The charity is particularly keen to make funding available to small organisations accessing hard-to-reach young people.
“Our aim is to harness and build on the expertise and track records of established organisations while encouraging diversification in the network of youth volunteering providers by making funding available to a wider range of local, new and emerging organisations,” said Terry Ryall, chief executive of v.
Following feedback from the sector, v is offering a two-stage application process to allow organisations to register initial expressions of interest before proceeding to full applications.
The deadline for the first stage has now passed and the initial submissions are being assessed. Successful organisations will receive letters in the week commencing 10 September, inviting them to submit full applications by 19 October.
